At Humacao, Puerto Rico, the statistical characterization of the attenuation relative to free space was the primary data product of interest in determining the link margin performance of a communications system in the tropics.

Below is the Cummulative Distribution Function (CDF) of the attenuation relative to free space, as measured at Humacao, Puerto Rico, during the operation of the propagation terminal. The results are shown compared to the ITU-R model and indicate deviations between measured and theory for large rain fades at this particular tropical location.
