Sample Analysis

The statistical characterization of sites in different climatological zones at Ka-band was the primary goal of the ACTS campaign. The fundamental way in which this characterization is performed, in terms of communications system availability at each particular site, is with the Cummulative Distribution Function (CDF) of percent of time that the attenuation level to maintain an RF link is exceeded.

The plots below compare each of the ACTS sites to identify the 99.9% and 99.99% system availabity levels due to attenuation relative to free space.
