RF Propagation Database

For over 20 years, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been involved in the statistical characterization of radiofrequency (RF) propagation through the atmosphere at locations around the world. The primary use of this data has been in system planning for NASA’s communications assets in deep space and near earth availability determination and ground station design. Furthermore, the data has been equally useful in developing global models, in collaboration with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

The NASA RF Propagation Database is a portal to NASA’s past and current activities in RF propagation measurement campaigns and provides the user community access to this data for the further development of enhanced modeling and site-dependent system planning.
